Recognition through HSRP

The Journey of High-Security Registration Plates

On December 6, 2018, a major milestone in vehicle safety was achieved when the government made it mandatory for vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) to provide newly manufactured vehicles, starting April 1, 2019, with pre-installed High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP). This initiative was introduced to improve vehicle identification and strengthen overall security. HSRP vendors, such as Shimnit India, have played a key role in implementing this program through their extensive dealership network.

Shimnit greatly appreciates the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for their leadership in this transformation. Their efforts in building the comprehensive VAHAN vehicle database and seamlessly integrating HSRP with it have been vital to the success of this nationwide initiative.

For vehicles manufactured before April 1, 2019, the responsibility lies with the State Transport Department to oversee the transition to High-Security Registration Plates, ensuring consistent standards for vehicle security across India.

Key Features of High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP)

At Shimnit, we adhere to the standards of The Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 to ensure every vehicle on India’s roads has a number plate that meets both legal and quality benchmarks. In compliance with Rule 50 of CMVR 1989, our HSRPs are available in four different sizes and colors, ensuring maximum visibility and compatibility for various vehicle types.

1. Material

Each plate is crafted from solid aluminum and designed to meet the AIX 159:2019 or ISO:7591 quality standards.

2. Reflective Sheeting

Plates are laminated with high-quality reflective sheeting featuring the "IND" mark as part of the design for enhanced visibility at night.

3. Hologram

A chromium-based hologram with a unique 'Chakra' design is applied through a hot-stamping process to prevent tampering.

4. Laser Branding

Each plate carries a unique, permanent 10-digit identification number, preceded by two letters, laser-etched at the bottom left corner.

5. Embossing & Hot Stamping

Alphanumeric characters and borders are embossed, then hot-stamped with black foil featuring the word "INDIA" as a security feature.

6. Third Registration Plate (Sticker)

A matching sticker is provided to be placed on the vehicle’s windshield for added identification and security.

7. Snap Locks

Plates are secured using snap locks that are non-removable and non-reusable, ensuring they cannot be tampered with or replaced illegally.
